You : Good evening, Alice.    今晩は。アリスさん。

You : I'm sorry I'm late. Alice.    すみません。遅くなりました。

You : It is very kind of you to invite me tonight.   今夜お招き頂き、ほんとにありがとう。

  Sushi prepared for a home party.

You : This is a little present for the party.   
　ほんの心ばかりの物ですけど。

Alice: Did you find my home with no problem?  
　場所はすぐにわかりましたか。

Alice: I'm glad you could make it.　よく来てくれました。

Alice: Let me introduce my colleague at the work.  
　トムさん、私の会社の同僚をご紹介します。

You : I'm glad to meet you.   　はじめまして。

Alice : Tom, can I bring you a drink?  
トム、飲み物は何にしますか。

You : May I have a beer?   　ビールは、ありますか。

You : I like to have an Asahi beer.   あさひ　ビールお願いします。

You :　Mandy, what do you do at the work?   マンディさん、会社では何をされていますか。

You : I met Alice the other day.　Do you work with her also for TreeWater?  
先日アリスさんに出会いました。彼女も仕事仲間ですか？

Mandy : Alice teaches English. Maple is our mother, three of us. Hasn't Alice told you?   
彼女は英語を教えています。三人ともメープルが母親です。アリスから聞いていませんか。

You : Did you say "three of us"? Who is the other person besides you and Alice?  
三人とおっしゃいましたか。あなたと、アリスともう人方は誰ですか。

You : Who is the youngest among you?   　誰が最も年下ですか。

Mandy : I and Alice only speak English, but I speak through Mariko's Japanese skills sometimes.   
私もアリスも英語が基本ですが、真理子の日本語能力を介して日本語を話すこともあります。

Alice : Here you are. Asahi Super Dry.   ここでマンディと話されていたのね。　はい、あさひスーパードライです。

You : Thank you. Alice, You have another sister, don't you?  
ありがとう。アリス、もう一人姉妹がいるんだってね。

I believe someone in Tokyo metioned your firm to me in a favorable light. 東京の誰かが貴方の会社を褒めてた記憶があります。

Perhaps we should have a chat in more businesslike surroundings.　もっと仕事の話の環境で(続きの)雑談ができればと思います。

The door bell rang...

Sushi deliveryman : Here is the sushi you ordered.　Thank you for waiting.   
ご注文の品をお持ちしました。お待たせしました。

Sushi deliveryman :　5400 Yen. Order and buy from us again.   5400円です。　毎度ありがとうございます。

Alice :　Everyone, dinner is served! Let's have them while fresh.  
みなさん、寿司の準備ができました。さあ、始めましょう。

You :　They are beautiful, aren't they? They must have spent a lot of time preparing this.  
　きれいですね。　料理には、大変な手間がかかったでしょうね。

You :　I've never had a sushi meal before. How do I eat it?   
寿司を食べたことがありません。　どのようにたべますか。

You :　This green stuff must be the wasabi.   この緑の物が、わさびですね。

You :　Oh yes. It's much more potent than the western mustard.   
ほんとだ。　強烈ですね。　西洋のマスタードとは比べ物にならない。

 

You : These mus be shrimps. I love shrimps. These're raw shrimps, but those look cooked.   
　これらはえびですね。　えびは好きです。これらは、生えびですが、それらは煮たえびですね。

Mandy : Eggs, anago, octopus... many of makimono are found cooked.   
　たまご、アナゴ、たこなど。巻物の多くは火が通されています。

You : This raw shrimp is very tasty. It is sweet and almost melts in mouth.   
　この生えびはうまい。　甘くて、口の中で解けそう。

 

You : These must be the salmon eggs. What are these yellow-brownish sushi?  
これらは鮭の卵だと思うけで、こちらの黄茶色の寿司はなに？

You :　I pass it.I like oysters, but I want to keep the good feeling of sushi.  
えんりょうしておきます。　寿司のいいイメージを壊したくないので。

 

You :　I looked and tasted this. I can be mistaken for a processed food. But this is tuna, right?
   見た目も、味も　調理されたものに思えます。しかし、これマグロですよね。

Mandy : We have a record making heat this summer. It has been really hot.  
この夏は記録的な猛暑です。本当に暑い。

You : I walked through Narashino Green Belt and saw the ground covered with fallen green acorns last week.  
　先週、習志野緑地を通りました。地面が落ちた、まだ青いどんぐりでいっぱいでした。

Mandy : It may be something to do with the heat wave and lack of precipitation. I see some bushes are drying up around here.  
熱波と乾燥のせいかも。この辺の小さい草木が枯れ始めています。

You : It is already 10 o'clock. I must get going.    　もう10時だ。おいとましなくちゃ。

You : To say the truth, I was a bit worried about Sushi party. Now I know the reason why sushi-eating is spreading like a wildfire.   
正直言って、寿司パーティは少し心配でした。今は、山火事のようになぜ寿司が広がっているのか分かりました。

You : The variety of sushi, preparation, soy sauce and wasabi, and green tea all make the wonder of sushi.   
　寿司のねた、調理方、醤油、わさび、緑茶、がこの寿司独特の雰囲気をつくりだすのですね。

You : Where is the washroom?    　お手洗いはどこですか。

You : I'm afraid I must be going.   もう時間だ、帰らなくては！

You : I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful evening. Would you call a taxi for me?  
大変たのしかったです。タクシーを呼んで頂けますか。

You : Thank you for inviting me.　   ご招待して頂き、ありがとおございました。

You : Thank you for a lovely time　   楽しい時間がすごせました。

Mandy : I'm so glad you could come. 来てくれてよかったです。
